The Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar announced that rainfall in central and northern Iraq coincides with a cold air mass and a drop in temperatures. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif, a climate expert in the Department of Climate Meteorology and responsible for the Meteorological Laboratory, stated that, it will continue on Saturday, 8/2/2025, the impact of the Mediterranean depression on Iraq and rain on the central and northern region of the country and snowfall on the mountainous heights, accompanied by the effect of the cold air mass, as for the southern region, the impact of the Mediterranean depression will be weak on it, except for the areas of Kut that will be affected by it on Saturday evening.

Temperatures:                                   

Temperatures continue to drop in light of the hopefully winter weather and the temperatures are as follows:

Northern region:

Minimum: -2 to 4 0 C.

Maximum: 6 to 9 0 C.

Western region:

Minimum: 1 to 5 0 C.

Maximum: 8 to 15 0 C.

Middle region:

Minimum: 4 to 8 0 C.

Maximum: 11 to 18 0 C.

Southern region:

Minimum: 7 to 12 0 C.

Maximum: 16 to 22 0 C.

Wind:

Wind direction: It is west to northwest.

Wind speed:

It is expected that the winds will be moderate in speed 20 - 28 km / h - in the central and northern regions - while the southern regions have increased wind speed as we head south until it reaches in Basrah 53 km / h during Friday and Saturday, which expects a dust storm as a result.
