Installation and operation of a meteorological station in the district of Rutba
2025-07-09
With direct support from the presidency of Al-Anbar University, represented by the esteemed Professor Dr. Mushtak Talib Al-Neda, the university president, the staff of the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research completed the installation and operation of a meteorological station in the district of Rutba in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources - the Resident Engineer's Office for Small Dams in the western region.
This is the third station in a network of monitoring stations that the center is establishing in the region as part of the university's strategic plan and the center's plans to monitor and track climate changes. The center already has a station in Haditha and another in the center's building within the campus of Al-Anbar University in Ramadi. It is expected that this station will play a significant role in supporting the center's plans to expand the database for hydrological research and studies, water resource management, and renewable energies, providing a great opportunity to develop these research and studies, in addition to supporting graduate students and those interested in these fields.
It is worth mentioning that the University of Anbar, as part of its strategic plan to achieve sustainable development goals and Vision 2030, has established the Meteorology Department and the Environment and Pollution Department at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research. This supports the center's efforts to expand databases and meteorological observations to study and monitor climate changes in order to address them and reduce their impacts on the region.
