Finishing of the Course on "The Impact of Global Warming on Tropospheric Temperature"

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote scientific and intellectual advancement, the Human Resources Development Department at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at University of Anbar, organized a specialized scientific course entitled "The Impact of Global Warming on Tropospheric Temperature." The course was held in the center's main hall and lasted for three days, from March 3-5, 2026. This course is part of a series of scientific events and activities that the center is keen to organize as part of its efforts to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and to enhance the role of scientific research in serving the community and addressing contemporary environmental issues. The course witnessed a distinguished attendance of researchers, academics, and those interested in environmental and climate issues.

The course was presented by a select group of the center's scientific staff, including:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mukhlif
  • Assistant Instructor Mohammed Rahim Mohammed
  • Assistant Instructor Abdul Majeed Mohammed Awad

This course was held within the rapid global shifts and climate changes. Its aim was to highlight the thermal changes occurring in the troposphere, the layer closest to the Earth's surface and the primary environment for various weather phenomena. The course also analyzed the relationship between increasing greenhouse gas emissions and the accelerating rise in temperatures, and the resulting growing environmental and climatic repercussions.

Furthermore, the course sought to enhance participants' environmental awareness of the importance of adopting sustainable development approaches as an effective means of mitigating the effects of climate change and adapting to its consequences. The conference concluded with a number of important scientific findings, most notably a precise scientific diagnosis of the tangible changes in the thermal behavior of the troposphere and their direct impacts on the hydrological cycle and various ecosystems. The conference also presented several sustainable visions and solutions, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the role of scientific research in developing effective strategies for adapting to global warming, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, which are among the most vulnerable to climate change.
