As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the standing of Iraqi scientific research in international forums, University of Anbar has achieved a new academic milestone with the publication of an advanced scientific study in the field of artificial intelligence and the environment by a research team from its college.
Dr. Haitham Abdul Mohsen and Instructor Saif Sa’ad Mansour, researchers at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research, have published their research paper, "Leveraging the Self-Attention Mechanism: Cutting-Edge Predictive Modeling for Ozone Concentration Dynamics," in the prestigious journal City and Environment Interactions. This journal is ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of the Scopus database and (Q2) of the Clarivate database, with a CiteScore of 5.9 and an Impact Factor of 3.8, reflecting the high scientific standing of both the journal and the research.
The study explored the application of the Self-Attention Mechanism, a cutting-edge technique in deep learning models, to develop highly accurate predictive models for the dynamics of ozone concentration in the atmosphere. This directly contributes to improving air quality monitoring strategies and supporting efforts to protect the environment from pollution. This achievement reflects the quality of research outputs of University of Anbar college members and their ability to keep pace with global technological developments, which contributes to enhancing the university's ranking and increasing its scientific impact at the local and international levels.
