Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at a Conference on Climate Change

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre participated with the Centre for Desert Studies representatives of the University of Anbar as part of a delegation representing the province in the conference held by the National Security Advisory in the Prime Ministry in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The conference, which was attended by the National Security Advisor, Mr. Hazem Al-Araji, in addition to the Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, representatives of the relevant ministries, governors and civil society organizations, discussed the importance of addressing the effects of climate change and its repercussions on the citizen's security environmentally, economically, socially and security.
This high-level official attendance reflects the importance of the issue of climate change and its great dimensions affecting the citizen and the future of Iraq.
On the sidelines of the conference, a meeting was held between Prof. Dr. (Ammar Hatem Kamel), Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, and Prof. Dr. (Nihad Muhammad Abboud), Director of the Centre for Desert Studies, with Mr. (Maunour Rashid), Director of the Environment, Energy and Climate Program Portfolio at the United Nations Development Program in Iraq, in the presence of Mr. Maan Al-Marei, Director of the Program's branch in Anbar Governorate, to discuss cooperation between the program and research centers at the university, especially in research projects and studies related to environment and climate.
