The latest statistics related to the rain wave on 14-15/11/2023 at the stations of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre

The Planning and Databases Department at the UEBDC at University of Anbar issued the latest statistics related to the rainfall wave on 14-15/11/2023 at the Centre’s stations.

Dr. Atheer Salim Al-Mawla, the in charge of the weather station at the Centre on the campus of the University of Anbar, said that the station recorded rain amounting to (5.8 mm) and from reviewing the databases registered at the Ramadi station since 1923 for the same period of the year, i.e. the month of November, it was found that the amount of rain recorded during this month within the values recorded within this period.

As for the weather station at the terminal station affiliated to UEBDC- Haditha, the recorded amounts of rain were less than those recorded in the city of Ramadi, and Engineer Ayoub Youssef Ahmed stated that the amount of recorded rainfall reached (4 mm) on Wednesday 15/11/2023. For his part, Engineer Juma Mohammed Ahmed said that no runoff events were detected in the valleys near the city of Haditha this Wednesday.

As for the Rutba station, Engineer Ahmed Ismail Odeh stated that the amounts of rainfall recorded during the days of 14 and 15/11/2023 amounted to (18.5) mm, which is slightly higher than the average, according to the available data for the amounts of rain recorded in the city since 1960 for the month of November. Floods were also recorded in the valleys of Husseiniyat and Sawab, as well as in Al-Abila valley, which has a dam with a capacity of more than four million cubic meters, in addition to Al-Agri valley, which contains a dam with a capacity of seven million cubic meters, which indicates the possibility of harvesting water in the region.

It should be noted that the rainfall line is still moving towards the south, and this is what has been observed during the past three years, and the need to invest this in determining water harvesting areas.
