Reading of the rainy situation for Sunday 24-12-2023

The climate expert in the Department of Natural Resources Development within the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center - Anbar University, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam announced an explanation of the rainy situation on Sunday, 12/24/2023 in Iraq, as rain prevails in the northern region with great heavy.

The rains also include the central region and the eastern parts of Anbar province. As for the southern region, it is free of rain. It is very important here that the rains are concentrated in excellent quantities on the dam basins in the governorates of northern Iraq (Dohuk, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Nineveh) in addition to the basins of the Darbandikhan, Dukan, Adhim and Hemrin dams in northeastern Iraq and Diyala governorate in eastern Iraq, which increases the chances of supporting the water storage of these dams and supporting water levels in the Tigris River column with the possibility of feeding the Thirthar Lake reservoir to support the discharges in the Euphrates River column, as shown by satellite images.
