Three Iraqi cities top the highest temperatures recorded in the world

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar announced the expected temperatures for today 24/6/2024. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mikhlif, a climate expert in the Department of Natural Resources Development, said that three Iraqi cities were among the hottest cities, and according to satellite images, the cities of (Basra, Nasiriyah and Amara) recorded temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, (the air temperature in the shade and not directly from solar radiation), which indicates that despite the receding heat wave in central and northern Iraq, its impact still continues on the cities of southern Iraq.

It is worth noting that the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre has developed a special program to monitor climate change, in implementation of the university's strategic plan to achieve the sustainable development goals within Vision 2030.
