Maintenance and preparation of rainfall and runoff events monitoring stations in the valleys of the western region

As part of the ongoing preparations to receive the rainy season and floods, the personnel of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar began maintenance and preparation of rainfall and runoff events monitoring stations in the valleys of the western region. Engineer Ahmed Ismail Odeh, from the Planning and Databases Department at the Centre, said that maintenance work has been started for the Centre’s flood monitoring station on Horan valley in the city of Rutba, with the addition of two new stations in addition to the main station, the first is located on Al-Massad valley near the city of Rutba, and the second is on the junction of Al-Massad valley with Horan, also near the city of Rutba, where these two sites were chosen because they witness frequent floods.
It is noteworthy that for the third season, the staffs of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar is working to monitor and measure the quantities of floods in the western region within the university's strategic plan and the centre’s program to monitor climate change to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030.
