The Upper Euphrates Center Documents a Year of Research Contributions to Achieving Sustainable Development Goals for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Within the framework of its scientific and community mission aimed at supporting sustainable development paths in Anbar Governorate and Iraq in general, the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Anbar continued its research efforts during the 2025-2026 academic year, achieving a number of high-quality scientific accomplishments that reflected the diversity of its researchers' specializations and the relevance of their research to the actual needs of the community.

The Center's achievements included the preparation and completion of the following studies and research:

  1. A study on unemployment in Ramadi District (causes and sustainable solutions), which addressed the economic and social factors leading to increased unemployment rates, while offering practical and applicable proposals to support job opportunities and local development.
  2. Researching environmental pollution, its causes, and methods of prevention, aiming to produce results that benefit the public (an analytical-legislative study). This focused on identifying various pollution sources, evaluating the legal framework governing environmental protection, and proposing amendments and recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of environmental legislation.
  3. Evaluating primary education services in the Ramadi district (problems and proposed solutions). This aimed to measure the level of educational services, identify the most prominent challenges facing primary schools, and develop solutions to improve the learning environment and the quality of educational outcomes.
  4. Studying the feasibility of producing organic fertilizers to replace or reduce reliance on mineral fertilizers. This would contribute to reducing chemical pollution of soil and water, lowering economic costs for farmers, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
  5. Investigating concrete corrosion in school buildings, identifying its causes, and proposing solutions. This focused on the safety of educational buildings and ways to extend their lifespan using modern engineering solutions.
  6. Improving the quality of soil used for planting public gardens in Ramadi by using a suitable drainage system to reduce salinity and lower the water table. This step aims to support green spaces and improve the city's environmental and aesthetic appeal.
  7. A study on rationalizing electricity consumption and the ruling on its waste and extravagance, combining scientific and religious perspectives, to promote a culture of rational energy use and reduce resource waste.
  8. Publication of the Upper Euphrates Database Series (3) – Data for the Anah District, which represents an important statistical and informational reference for researchers, decision-makers, and government departments, supporting future planning based on accurate data.

The center's administration affirmed that these achievements are part of the center's approved research plan and align with the University of Anbar's vision of linking scientific research to community service and addressing its real-world problems, as well as contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The administration commended the efforts of the researchers and participants in completing these studies, emphasizing its continued support for high-quality research projects that enhance the university's scientific standing and serve the people of Anbar Governorate in particular.

In conclusion, the Upper Euphrates Center affirms that this intellectual output stems from its commitment to scientific leadership and transforming research from library shelves into practical projects that impact citizens' daily lives, thus contributing to shaping a more sustainable future for Anbar Governorate and Iraq.
