Training Course on Managing Scientific Sources Using Mendeley and EndNote programs


As part of the ongoing program of the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research/Human Resources Development Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University of Anbar, which includes various scientific courses and events, the specialized training course on managing scientific sources and references using Mendeley and EndNote software, entitled "Source Citation Program for Scientific Research," was successfully concluded. The three-day course, held from February 15-17, 2026, in the center's main hall, targeted postgraduate students, researchers, and faculty members. The course was presented by:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Atheer Salim Al-Mawla
  • Instructor Dr. Haitham Abdul-Muhsin Afan
  • Instructor Dr. Basheer Khalil Ibrahim

The course aimed to develop participants' skills in organizing and managing scientific references efficiently, familiarize them with mechanisms for inserting citations and automated documentation according to various internationally recognized documentation styles, and teach them how to create and share digital libraries of sources and link them to word processing programs to facilitate the preparation of research papers and theses. The course included practical demonstrations of:

• Creating and managing reference databases.

• Inserting citations and documentation within the text.

• Easily changing documentation styles according to the requirements of scientific journals.

• Importing and exporting references from academic databases.

• Professionally organizing files and research documents.

The course witnessed excellent interaction from the participants, who praised the importance of the training content and its direct impact on the quality of their research work.

At the conclusion of the course, the importance of keeping pace with modern digital tools that support scientific research was emphasized, given their active role in raising the efficiency of scientific output and enhancing academic integrity.
