Training course on (saline soils and saline water, causes of their formation and methods of measurement and treatment)

Within the activities of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre at the Presidency of the University of Anbar, and under the direct supervision of the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, the free training course tagged: (Saline soils and saline water, causes of their formation and methods of measurement and treatment), which lasted for three days for the period 8-11/12/2024, was concluded on the main hall of the Centre.
The first lecture was Prof. Dr. Akram Abdul Latif Al-Hadithi, which was about: (Saline soils, causes of their formation and methods of measuring and treating them), in which he touched on multiple topics in this regard, the most important of which were: the definition of salinity, the causes that lead to salinity in the soil, its impact on the soil, the manifestations of the impact of salinity on agricultural crops, and the correct methods or strategies used in managing salinity.
The second lecture was Assistant Professor Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed, teacher and Dr. Saad Jabbar Hifi, which revolved around: (Salinity in water and its impact on agricultural crops), where a variety of topics were addressed, the most important of which were: the method of obtaining salinity in the soil, the causes of soil salinization in Iraq, what crops can tolerate salinity in Iraq, identifying what methods are in obtaining soil solution, methods of measuring soil salinity, and soil salinity sections enhanced by scientific examples obtained through laboratory experiments, Finally, the doctoral thesis presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Moneer Naji Ahmed, which was on (the effect of humic acid in reducing the damage of salt water on plants and in the movement and distribution of salts in the soil), was addressed as it is at the heart of the topic of the course. The course witnessed the presence of the centre’s researchers and a number of faculty and researchers from colleges and research centres at the university, which included some questions in different axes on the topics that were raised, which concluded with a test for all participants.
