The Upper Euphrates Centre for Sustainable Development Research – University of Anbar announced the follow-up of meteorology for the coming days, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif, a climate expert at the centre, stated that the follow-up of the Mediterranean depression on Monday, 6/1/2024, indicates snowfall in western Anbar and severe rainfall in the Trebil border area, where rainfall exceeds 12 mm.
As for the afternoon, the state of the depression will be that it is witnessing separate parts of the central and southern region rainfall, and some parts of the central region, especially western Anbar, are witnessing snowfall on a small scale as a result of severe cooling due to the pumping of cold Siberian air.
The far south of Iraq is expected to witness a rainstorm in the evening, with rain falling more than 10 mm. The state of the depression also develops at the beginning of the night, and the rains include a range that extends from Rutba to the north of Diyala .The amount of rainfall at the beginning of the range is 5 mm, the south of the range does not exceed 1 mm, and the southern regions are estimated between 3 mm - 5 mm in Nasiriyah, Kut, Najaf and Basra.
This is accompanied by thunderstorms in the evening. As for the Rumaitha area, the rainy situation develops before midnight and it is expected to receive a quantity of rain of more than 8 mm.
