Iraq weather forecast for the coming days

The Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research announced satellite forecasts for the weather in Iraq for the coming days, where it will be (rainfall, snowfall in the western and northern parts of the country and a cold wave as a result of an upcoming polar mass that is very cold). Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mikhlif, a meteorologist in the Department of Climate Meteorology, stated the forecasts as follows:
Rainfall status:
Iraq will be exposed on Wednesday night and on Thursday, 20-21/2/2025 to a deep Mediterranean depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere, as most regions of the country will witness scattered rain of varying intensity between (light - medium) in the central regions - between (medium and severe) in parts of the southern regions and most of the northern regions, accompanied by lightning and thunder, and this situation continues until Thursday evening, as the effectiveness of the depression decreases in Anbar and the southern regions, while the effectiveness of the depression continues on the undulating and northern region of the country, with snowfall in the northern and northeastern parts, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
On Saturday and Sunday, the entry of the polar air mass deepens and its control over the entire country, and Anbar, especially the northern and western parts of it, may witness snowfall, with the accumulation of snow in the undulating and northern parts of the country with continuous monitoring and updating of the status. Therefore, precautions should be taken with heating means inside homes. As well as preparing warm clothes to protect the body from feeling cold, especially outside the home.
