Weather forecast for the coming days based on satellite imagery
2025-12-21
The Meteorology Department at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research - University of Anbar declared its weather forecast for the coming days.
The head of satellite weather monitoring at the center, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mukhlif, stated that satellite observations indicate the following:
December 23 (Tuesday): Partly to mostly cloudy with limited sunny periods.
December 24 (Wednesday): Overcast with heavy cloud cover throughout the day.
December 25 (Thursday): Mostly sunny with clear skies.
December 26 (Friday): Sunny during the day.
Hourly and daily temperatures:
Tuesday 23: Relatively cool, starting at 6:00 AM and reaching 8°C in the morning, rising to 15°C in the afternoon. Temperatures will gradually decrease during the night, resulting in noticeably cold conditions.
Wednesday 24: Relatively warm during the day, starting at 6:00 AM and reaching 10°C in the morning, rising to 16°C in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop sharply during the night, resulting in noticeably colder conditions.
Thursday 25: Relatively cool, starting at 6:00 AM and reaching 8°C in the morning, rising to 15°C in the afternoon. Temperatures will gradually decrease during the night, resulting in noticeably cold conditions.
Cloud cover and its layers are due to a weak low-pressure system:
Tuesday and Wednesday:
Moderate to heavy cloud cover, with brief sunny periods on Tuesday. This indicates the passage of an inactive front or remnants of a low-pressure system, increasing the feeling of cold due to the blocking of sunlight. Cloud cover will reach 99% in the early hours of Tuesday, clearing up overnight. On Wednesday, cloud cover will increase, extending to the western parts of the central and western regions of the country, reaching 100%, decreasing overnight.
Thursday and Friday:
Partly cloudy in Ramadi, gradually clearing on Thursday and then completely clear on Friday, indicating the retreat of a low-pressure system and the arrival of a cold, dry winter high-pressure system.
Precipitation and Humidity Chances
Very low chances of rain in the coming days – only very light showers (drizzle or isolated drops) are possible, especially around noon on the 23rd, after which dry conditions will prevail in Ramadi and other parts of the western region. There is no real chance of significant rainfall on the remaining days. This confirms a period of atmospheric stability following any previous disturbances, with relatively dry air.
Winds in Ramadi and western Anbar:
Wind Speed: Numbers 1 to 9 represent wind strength (on the simplified Beaufort scale, where 1-3 is calm/light, 4-6 is moderate/active, and 7-9 is strong).
Most of the period: 2-5 (light to moderate winds, occasionally locally strong).
Highest values: 9 on Tuesday evening (temporarily strong winds), then 7-8 at certain times on the 25th and 26th.
Possible wind direction: Northwesterly or northerly (common in such winter patterns), increasing the wind chill by an additional 2-4 degrees, especially at night.
Recommendations:
Wear warm, multi-layered clothing, especially in the morning and evening, and monitor the chill for the elderly and children.
This bulletin reflects a classic, stable winter pattern.
