A combined low-pressure system with a relatively cold air mass is expected at the end of the week, followed by another low-pressure system that will renew itself during the Eid holidays

The Meteorology Department at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research, University of Anbar, has announced updates on the expected weather conditions and forecasts during the Eid al-Fitr holidays. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mukhlif, Head of Satellite Meteorology, stated that following the Mediterranean storm that affected Iraq, which we mentioned in the previous bulletin, during which the atmospheric pressure dropped to 991 millibars – a rare occurrence the country has rarely witnessed – and based on the latest weather updates from global models, it is expected, God willing, that the country will experience a period of instability starting Thursday, March 19, 2026, with the formation of a new Mediterranean storm. This storm will bring active winds that may reach speeds of up to 60 km/h, potentially carrying dust and sand, along with widespread rainfall accompanied by thunder and hail. Flash floods may occur in several areas, according to the initial reading of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, particularly in mountainous and slope regions. A cold air mass will also be active, causing a drop in temperatures of 6-8 degrees. This weather pattern may persist for a week, weakening at times before intensifying again depending on the influx of the cold air mass over the eastern Mediterranean. And God knows best. May God grant success and guidance.
