The sustainable and smart cities

The Head of the Planning and Databases Department at the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, Dr. Ahmed Saud Mohammed, participated in the workshop held by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in cooperation with the Iraqi Committee for Education, Culture and Science, named: (Sustainable and Smart Cities), in Baghdad for the period from 2 to 5 June 2023.
The most important themes addressed in the workshop were:
- The concept of a smart city, why and what.
- Collect data on the smart city.
- Smart drinking water.
- Smart sewage system.
- Smart electrical grid.
- Intelligent urban heating/cooling system.
- Smart mobility.
- Smart buildings.
For its part, it is noteworthy that the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Research Centre and the Desert Studies Centre, has finished the completion of the study on the smart village project at the University of Anbar, as well as the statements of the design plans pending the start of implementation.
At the end of the workshop, the recommendations were presented and discussed by the attendees, and certificates were distributed to the participants.
