Participating with the College of Education for Pure Sciences in a training course entitled: "Reuse It, Don't Throw It Away"

The College of Education for Pure Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, held a training course entitled: "Reuse It, Don't Throw It Away: Towards a More Conscious and Sustainable Society," as part of its efforts to promote environmental awareness and spread a culture of sustainability among students.

The course was presented by Dr. Haneen Shartouh Sharqi (a researcher at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research) and Dr. Hiba Abbas Jassim (Head of the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences). The course addressed several key topics, most notably:

• The concept of environmental sustainability and its importance in meeting the needs of the present without impacting future generations.

• The problem of waste and its environmental, health, and economic impacts, and the waste cycle from production to pollution.

• The circular economy and its role in reducing waste and maximizing resource utilization.

• The 3Rs principle: Reduce Reuse, and Recycle, highlighting the importance of each in reducing pollution.

• Waste management and its types (organic, plastic, and metal) and the risks associated with untreated waste.

• Practical applications of reuse in the home, agriculture, and education, such as converting waste into useful materials or compost.

• The benefits of reuse in reducing pollution, conserving resources and energy, and supporting small businesses.

• The role of individuals and communities in raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable behaviors.

The three-day course ends with an assessment exam to measure the extent to which participants achieved the training objectives.

This course is part of the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research's efforts to instill the concepts of environmental sustainability and encourage students to adopt responsible practices that contribute to building a more conscious and sustainable society.
