Participation in the consultative meeting to support adaptation options in the Anbar Environment Directorate


The Anbar Environment Directorate Hall witnessed the consultative meeting to support the available adaptation options on Thursday, 21/9/2023, with the participation of some government departments in Anbar Governorate. The representative of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre / University of Anbar in this meeting was Assistant Professor Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed Al-Falahi, Head of the Natural Resources Developing Department, and Dr. Ahmed Saud Mohammed, Head of the Planning and Databases Department at the Centre.

The meeting was attended by specialists in the Anbar Governorate Office, the Directorate of Anbar Municipalities, the Directorate of Ramadi Municipality, the Social Protection Network in Anbar, the Directorate of Water Resources, the Directorate of Agriculture of Anbar Governorate, the Human Rights Commission in Anbar, the Directorate of Roads and Bridges of Anbar and other departments, in addition to the Iraqi Women and the Future Organization, Al-Haq and Al-Furat Organization for Water and Sustainable Development, and activists in climate issues.

During the meeting, they discussed the climate challenges facing the governorate, international climate agreements, the National Contributions (NDC) document and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and discussed climate change and its impact on water resources, agriculture, land use, health, livelihoods, the transport sector and the energy sector to come up with recommendations that would reduce the impact of climate change on various sectors and find solutions. Appropriate for those problems.

At the end of the meeting, some questions were raised and discussed with the attendees and beneficiaries, and the meeting came out with some recommendations that would serve the public interest.
