Participation in public scientific discussion committee

Assistant professor Dr Muthanna Badie Farhan, one of the researchers of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar, participated in the public scientific discussion committee for the master's thesis of the researcher (Ghassan Lahej Abdul Aziz) at the College of Science / Anbar University, on Thursday, 28/9/2023, at nine in the morning at Jaber bin Hayyan Hall in the college. The thesis entitled:

((Effect of Environmental Stress Factors on the Microbial Properties of Acinetobacter baumannii Bacteria Isolated from Different Clinical Sources))

The thesis submitted by the researcher included a study of (120) samples of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria from various cases of infection (wounds, sputum, urinary canal infection, burns, skin swabs) as well as taking swabs from the walls of operating rooms.

The effect of some factors such as temperature, pH and glucose concentration in the culture medium on the ability of bacteria the form the biofilm and also their impact on the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics was also studied by studying the effect of these same factors on Flow Pumps after it was confirmed experimentally that these bacteria possess flow pumps.

The study showed that there is a discrepancy between the impact of environmental factors on the formation of the biofilm and the ability of flow pumps to resist, in one aspect of the study, it was noted that the higher the temperature from the ideal temperature (37 °C), the less the ability of bacteria to form the biofilm decreases to be non-existent at a temperature of (45 ° C), while it continued to form the biofilm at temperatures below the optimum temperature, but at a lower level.
