Climate change and its environmental impacts


The Head of the Natural Resources Development Department at the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, Assistant Professor Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed, and the teacher, Dr. Haitham Abdul Mohsen Afen, from the Planning and Databases Department, participated as representatives of the Centre in the awareness seminar held by the Anbar Environment Directorate - Climate Change Division in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense in Anbar, on Tuesday, 21/11/2023, which was entitled:

(Climate change and its environmental impacts)

During the seminar, a number of lectures were delivered, the first lecture was given by the in charge of the Climate Change Division, Mr. Ali Hashem, and the second lecture was presented by the Director of the Environmental Police, Brigadier General Riad.

Through the presentation of the lectures, the most prominent repercussions on the environmental reality and the effects of climate change and their repercussions on the environment of the governorate were discussed, through which the Director of Anbar Environment, Eng. Qais Najeh Abdul Rahman, explained the great role taken by the Directorate in addressing this file through a number of measures and partnerships with all governmental and non-governmental institutions.

The seminar took place in the presence of the Director General of the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Central Region, Dr. Raghad Asad Al-Obaidi, a number of representatives of Anbar Governorate / Quality Management Department, representatives of the University of Anbar / Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, representatives of the Director of Water Resources and the Red Crescent Society, Anbar Branch, as well as representatives of civil society organizations in the province.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Qais Najeh confirmed that there is a move by the Directorate to support studies and research on confronting climate change in Anbar province for the purpose of implementing some of them.
