The Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, chaired the public scientific discussion committee for the master's student (Othman Abdul Hameed Mahmoud), a student in the Department of Dams and Water Resources at the College of Engineering / University of Anbar, at Al-Jazari Hall in the department, on Tuesday, 27-08-2024, for his tagged thesis:
(USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE METHODS FOR EUPTHRATES RIVER FLOW FORECASTING)
The thesis aims to use artificial intelligence methods to predict the future daily, monthly and seasonal discharges of the Euphrates River, provided by a modern lake, three methods were used for prediction, namely artificial neural networks (ANN), supporting vector machine (SVM) and dim learning (DM). The results of the proposed models were compared based on statistical criteria such as correlation coefficient (r), root mean square error (RMSE), mean square error (MSE), and mean absolute average error (MAE) to determine the best methods to be used in the future forecasting of incoming discharges to the Euphrates River at the Introduction of Haditha Dam.
The discussion committee consisted of:
Prof. Ammar Hatem Kamel................. Chairman
Prof. Amer Hassan Taher................ Member
Dr. Mohammed Falah Allawi............... Member
Prof. Sadiq Aliwi Salmian............. Member and supervisor
Prof. Diaa Majed Tarki................. Member & Supervisor
The discussion was attended by a number of teachers and specialists, headed by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdul Rahman Hilal, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Ahmed, the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Abdul Majeed Mohamed, and the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Tariq Noman, in addition to the presence of a number of graduate students in the department.
