Climate change and its role in afforestation in preserving the environment

The Head of the Natural Resources Development Department at the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, Assistant Professor Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed, participated as a lecturer in the scientific symposium: (Climate Change and its Role in Afforestation in Preserving the Environment), which was called for by civil society organizations, under the slogan (until the cultivation of the last meter in Anbar), and which was implemented by the Iraq Volunteer Paradise Team, on Thursday, 5/10/2024, and it is among the volunteer teams registered in: Directorate of Youth and Sports / Division of volunteer teams in Anbar province / Division of volunteer teams, the voluntary campaign ((afforestation)) to plant (seedlings from perennial trees), which was held in the district of Garma.
During the seminar, they discussed the definition of afforestation, its environmental and social benefits and how to sustain it, as well as the creation and sustainability of a community culture around green areas, with the definition of the consequences of global warming, and confronting water scarcity under the current conditions and circumstances.
The symposium concluded with several recommendations, including spreading cultural and scientific awareness in the community about climate change, and moving towards planting suitable trees with low water consumption and maintaining a clean environment free of pollutants.
