Two researchers participate in the scientific workshop held by the Directorate of Agriculture in Anbar province

At the invitation of the Directorate of Agriculture in Anbar, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mukhlif, and Assistant Professor Dr. Munir Naji Ahmed) from the Upper Euphrates Development Centre for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar participated in the workshop held by the Environment and Climate Change Committee in cooperation with the Scientific Committee for Research and Studies in the Anbar Directorate of Agriculture, which was entitled: (Climate change and its impact on the agricultural sector in Anbar Governorate), on Tuesday, 24/12/2024.

The workshop aims to shed light on the challenges facing the agricultural sector in the province due to climate change, and comes within the directions of the joint committee with Anbar Governorate and the relevant departments to prepare a comprehensive study on the effects of climate change on agriculture.

The climate change theme, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jassam Mekhlif, addressed that Anbar province is exposed to extreme waves of cold masses in winter, heat waves in summer, and the fluctuation of rain in the rainfall season and its deviation from its rates in its quantities and its reflection on the agricultural sector in Anbar Governorate, and recommended the preparation of a climatic environmental study based on recent data to determine the level of thermal and rainfall deviation from its general rates and its suitability for agriculture.
