Participation in a scientific workshop on the integrated management of the Tigris and Euphrates basins in the Anbar Agriculture Directorate

In continuation of the approach followed by the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Anbar to open up and cooperate with various state departments, Prof. Dr. Isam Muhammad Abdulhameed Al-Hadithi, one of the center's researchers, presented a scientific lecture on water management in the Tigris and Euphrates basins, in the scientific workshop held by the Scientific Committee for Research and Studies at the headquarters of the Directorate of Agriculture in Anbar Governorate, on Wednesday, 15/1/2024, which was entitled: (Towards Integrated Water Management in Iraq).
The lecture presented by the researcher dealt with several topics, the most important of which were:
· A historical view of water policies in Iraq.
· The length of the Euphrates River from upstream to downstream.
· The Euphrates River throughout history.
· Water quality of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
· Local concentrations of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
· How to deal with the quality of the Euphrates River.
· Factors affecting the relationship of production with the salinity of irrigation water.
· Comparison of the basins of the chatter and Horan.
In conclusion, the conclusion and recommendations of the study were presented, the most important of which were:
1- Benefit from graduate programs and research center projects in the development of this study.
2- The possibility of opening investment with the Turkish state to implement some paragraphs of the project in exchange for providing the project with a minimum operating needs (about 50 cubic meters per second) in addition to the agreed water share.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Directorate of Environment, the Center for Desert Studies at University of Anbar, the Agricultural Training Extension Center in Anbar, a representative of Anbar province, in addition to a number of employees of the Directorate and agricultural divisions.
