The first meeting of the Department of Climate Meteorology at the Upper Euphrates Center for Research on Sustainable Development

The Department of Climate Meteorology, which was recently established at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Anbar, held its first meeting on Sunday, 26-1-2025, headed by Dr. Haitham Abdul Mohsen Afen and in the presence of the members of the Council:

· Assist. Inst. Mohammed Majeed Hameed
· Assist. Inst. Mohammed Rahim Mohammed
· Assist. Inst. Asma Majed Hamed
The meeting witnessed the distribution of tasks among department members, as they were organized into specialized committees in the department, in addition to the distribution of administrative responsibilities, and the Council discussed the preparatory aspects of the Meteorological Laboratory, including identifying the devices and equipment required to ensure the effectiveness of the laboratory in line with the directions of the department.
The members of the Council touched on pivotal issues related to the research directions of the department, with a focus on climate-related studies, and stressed the importance of following up on climate change, collecting and analyzing data, developing scientific models to predict future climate elements, and highlighting the areas most affected by climate change, with the members of the Council directing the need to intensify research efforts in them.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold periodic meetings to discuss research ideas and proposals and work to implement them, with the aim of achieving distinguished research achievements in record time and enhancing scientific cooperation among the members of the department.
