Workshop on the mechanism of action of the extraction device

In order to supplement the scientific process at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Anbar within the achievement of sustainable development goals, a workshop was held on Tuesday, 4/3/2025, in the main hall of the center, a workshop tagged: (The mechanism of work of the extraction device), presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Nowfal Adnan Sabri, a researcher in the Department of Natural Resources Development at the Center.
The extraction devices (Soxhlet and Clevenger) are among the devices in the laboratories of our research center, and the researcher touched in his lecture to describe the principle of the work of each device in extracting lipids from solid materials, especially from different plant parts, and also each part of the device was described and its importance, as well as the way the device works. The researcher also mentioned a number of actual experiments that he carried out, in which he mentioned the method of work in the extraction in detail for each device, and how to obtain extracts through the use of alcoholic extraction method using certain types of alcohols such as ethanol, methanol and hexane, or the extraction is using water as a solvent to obtain the aqueous extract of the plant parts, and on the other hand, the researcher explained the importance of the extracts that are obtained in research, such as benefiting from them to conduct biological effectiveness tests for extracts against Certain pathological microbes or oil extraction can be used in other areas.
In the last part of the lecture, a number of attendees asked questions related to the work of extraction devices and how to maintain and clean them, and the lecturer answered all these questions.
