Panel Discussion on Laboratory Quality Application Standards

In continuation of the sustainable development approach in the laboratory development of the laboratories of the Upper Euphrates Center for Research on Sustainable Development at the University of Anbar, and based on the report of the field visit to laboratories by the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance / Laboratory Quality Unit, and under the supervision and follow-up of the respected Director of the Center, the Laboratories Unit at the Center held on Sunday, 23/3/2025, a seminar on the standards for applying laboratory quality in accordance with the Iraqi standards for the quality of the laboratories of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research towards achieving the possession of our laboratories of the ISO 17025 specification: 2017), the lectures of the seminar were presented by (Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Badie Farhan), Head of the Laboratories Unit, and (Instructor Dr. Salem Mahmoud Ahmed).
The seminar dealt with several axes, the most important of which are: the tasks required for each of the laboratory administrator, the laboratory technician and the laboratory workers, as well as there was a detailed clarification of the most important of what was mentioned in the checklist for internal audit in accordance with the Iraqi standards for the quality of the laboratories of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and according to the required standards such as the general requirements standard, the regulatory requirements standard, the technical requirements standard, the safety and security requirements standard, the laboratory quality requirements standard and other standards, and a number of university and administrative orders related to the subject were reviewed. Developing laboratories according to laboratory quality standards, such as the university order to develop laboratories, administrative orders with administrative assignments of laboratory staff, as well as orders of maintenance and calibration committees, and others, and a number of special forms were also reviewed, such as the main maintenance and calibration program forms, the examination report form, the results report, the device use instructions form and many other forms related to the quality of laboratories.
The seminar was attended by the laboratory staff of the Soil, Water and Plant Laboratory, the Environment and Pollution Laboratory, and the Scientific Research Laboratory / Haditha, as well as the electronic participation of a number of scientific research laboratory staff / Haditha, and a number of other researchers. At the end of the seminar, there were many constructive interventions and many questions were also asked that were answered by the head of the laboratory unit at the center.
