Panel Discussion on Academic Publishing Guidelines and Targeting International Journals Indexed in Scopus and Clarivate Databases

The Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Anbar organized a specialized scientific panel discussion entitled "Academic Publishing Guidelines and Targeting Indexed Journals in Scopus and Clarivate". The seminar was co-presented by: (Assistant Instructor Muhammad Majeed Hameed) and (Assistant Instructor Osama Khamis Ali), as it targeted researchers and academics wishing to develop their skills in scientific publishing.
The seminar focused on introducing participants to the mechanisms of selecting reliable scientific journals and methods of verifying their indexing in solid global databases, including a detailed explanation of the search mechanism in the Scopus database and the Clarivate system represented by the Web of Science, with an explanation of the differences between them.
The lecturers dealt with the criteria for classifying scientific journals according to the quartile system, where they explained how to determine whether the journal is classified under (Q1, Q2, Q3 or Q4). The importance of targeting highly rated journals to ensure the greatest scientific spread and citation was also emphasized.
The panel discussion highlighted the significant benefits that researchers obtain from publishing in internationally indexed journals, including increasing scientific citations, enhancing opportunities for academic promotions, ensuring the quality of research according to international standards, in addition to improving the chances of winning research grants.
The lecturers also made a set of practical recommendations to the researchers, including the need to verify the indexing of the journal through official websites such as Scopus Sources and Master Journal List. They also warned against fake and predatory journals, and advised choosing journals with a high impact factor.
The organization of this seminar comes within the framework of a series of scientific events organized by the Upper Euphrates Research Center to serve the academic community. The Center emphasizes that it will continue to organize such events that contribute to developing the skills of researchers and raising the level of scientific research in accordance with international standards.
