Weather forecast for the coming days

The Climate and Meteorology Department at the Upper Euphrates Centre for Sustainable Development Research – University of Anbar – has announced the expected weather conditions over the coming ten days, God willing. Assistant Professor Dr Ahmed Jassam Mukhlef, climate expert and satellite meteorology specialist, stated that Iraq and Anbar Governorate are expected to experience stable atmospheric conditions under the influence of an extension of the subtropical high-pressure system. This will result in clear skies and sustained high temperatures in the 40s (°C) throughout the forecast period.

This thermal pattern reflects the continued impact of a hot and dry air mass originating from the Arabian Peninsula.

Temperature Curve Analysis

Maximum Temperatures:

•        Northern Region: Ranging between 37°C and 40°C

•        Central Region: Between 40°C and 44°C, peaking at 46°C on Monday, 8 September 2025, particularly in Baghdad

•        Western Region: Between 35°C and 38°C, with relatively moderate heat

•        Southern Region: Gradual temperature increase south of Baghdad, reaching 44°C to 47°C in Basra

Minimum Temperatures:

•        Relatively stable between 23°C and 26°C, resulting in warm nights that tend to be slightly cooler towards western and northern Iraq

Wind Conditions

•        Predominantly northwesterly to northeasterly

•        Moderate speed (15–30 km/h)

•        Likely to ease the daytime heat without causing dust or sandstorms.
