To Enhance Water Resources and Precise Scientific Research: Upper Euphrates Center Installs Flood Measurement Meters in the Valleys of Western Anbar
2026-01-16
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance scientific reliability and enrich the hydrological database for the western region, the staff of the Haditha Terminal Research Station, affiliated with the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar, continued its field efforts to document and analyze rainfall patterns and monitor floods.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the station’s specialized staff conducted a field tour that included a number of strategic valleys in Anbar Governorate (Horan valley, Zaghdan valley, and Hajlan valley), which included installing model measuring instruments to monitor flood flow levels. This step comes to ensure the accuracy of periodic readings when flood waves occur, which contributes to building a solid database that serves researchers, graduate students, and specialists in water resources management, and supports sustainable development plans in the country.
