Anbar Environment Directorate Conducts Field Visit to Green Belt Project Site in Ramadi

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Anbar Environment Directorate, in cooperation with several research and governmental institutions in the governorate, conducted a field visit to the designated site for the Green Belt project around Ramadi.

Participants in the visit included the Desert Studies Center and the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar, as well as the Ramadi Municipality Directorate, the General Authority for Groundwater and the Sahrraa Organization for Environmental Protection. This visit aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in environmental and developmental matters.

The visit included a preliminary survey of the project's designated route by a specialized team. All relevant field data and information were collected and identified to lay the groundwork for the necessary technical and scientific foundations for the implementation phase. In this context, the Director of Anbar Environment, Engineer Qais Najeh Abed, explained that this visit represents the cornerstone for launching the project. He emphasized that the green belt will provide a vital environmental and social service to the governorate, with positive impacts extending to future generations in the short and long term. This is due to its environmental features that contribute to strengthening the ecosystem, reducing desertification, improving air quality, and enhancing the city's urban landscape.

He added that the project is the first of its kind in Anbar Governorate and aligns with the directorate's commitment to supporting sustainable projects that achieve a balance between development and environmental preservation.
