Participation in the Third Erbil International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities

As part of ongoing efforts to promote scientific research and develop the skills of researchers, Assistant Instructor Abdulmajeed Mohammed Awad Mohammed, a researcher at the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar, participated in the Third Arbil International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities, organized by the International Association for Education and Academic Research in cooperation with the Turkish Rimar Academy, and with the academic sponsorship of Mardin Artuklu University. The conference was held from February 5-7, 2026, in Erbil.

The researcher presented a paper titled: "Obstacles Facing Farmers in Adopting Smart Agriculture Technologies: Ramadi District as a Case Study." The paper analyzed the technological gap in the agricultural sector through a field study that utilized an analytical questionnaire distributed to 109 farmers. The study aimed to identify the challenges of transitioning from traditional farming methods to digital transformation. The study's results revealed a significant positive indicator: 67.9% of farmers demonstrated a high level of willingness to adopt smart farming technologies, thus refuting the hypothesis that resistance to change is the primary obstacle. The analysis also revealed that the actual challenges are economic and knowledge-based in nature, including the high cost of modern technologies, weak government support, and limited agricultural extension and training programs.

The research concluded with a set of strategic recommendations for decision-makers, emphasizing that the successful implementation of smart farming in Iraq requires strengthening farmers' financial and technical capabilities, along with providing a supportive environment for digital transformation, rather than simply encouraging a desire for change.

This participation aligns with the objectives of the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research, which aims to support the scientific presence of researchers and promote applied studies that contribute to achieving sustainable development and advancing vital productive sectors.
