Research Station – Haditha conducts a field visit to the Haditha Dam project to enhance technical cooperation

In the context of enhancing cooperation mechanisms with various state institutions, and in line with the directions to achieve sustainable development goals, the staff of the Haditha Research Station, affiliated with the Upper Euphrates Center for Sustainable Development Research at University of Anbar, conducted a field visit to the management of the Haditha Dam project on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with the aim of reviewing the operational reality of the dam and developing areas of joint technical cooperation.
The center's delegation was received by the dam's director, Engineer Ali Saleh Shalal, and the deputy director, Engineer Muhammad Ibrahim. A detailed presentation was given on the water level of the dam's lake and the monitoring mechanisms using the approved technical devices, as well as a review of the water quality measurement procedures thru periodic laboratory tests conducted to ensure compliance with the approved standard specifications.
The visit included a field tour to observe the ongoing grouting works aimed at enhancing the stability and safety of the facilities, in addition to monitoring the implementation stages inside the dam tunnels and learning about the approved technical and engineering procedures in their execution.
This visit contributed to enhancing the exchange of expertise and raising the level of technical knowledge among the research station staff, as well as strengthening the bonds of cooperation and coordination between the two sides, which supports the development of institutional performance and contributes to ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of the operation of vital water facilities.
