With the help of Allah Almighty, the periodic meeting (first session) of the Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre / University of Anbar for the academic year 2023-2024 was held under the chairmanship of the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel and in the presence of the members of the Board of Directors, on Wednesday, 4/10/2023, The main agenda of the meeting is as follows:

1-    Discussion of the letter of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Research and Development Department, No. BT 4/7184 dated 3/9/2023, stipulates the submission of studies that contribute to finding solutions to new problems suffered by Iraqi society, including cancer diseases, and the problem of energy and water scarcity, and the funding of these studies is by state institutions.

2-    The title and directions of the periodic scientific symposium held annually by the Centre, as well as the titles of the workshops held annually.

3-    Discuss the directives of the Presidency of the University that followed the meeting held under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Office, which proposes to amend the name of the Centre to be more specialized and broader in studies related to water and sustainable development in the region.

4-    The creation of new scientific departments in our research Centre following research requirements, and the following departments have been proposed:

A.   Department of Meteorology and Climate.

B.   Department of Environment and Pollution.

5-    Discussing the proposal to amend the performance evaluation form for researchers in research centres, to ensure that researchers are motivated to complete their research, especially after ministerial directives on the number and quality of research that researchers must complete in one year.

6-    Activating joint work with state departments with identical specializations and research lines of the centre, to reach the highest level of benefit to society.  Presenting the reports prepared by the heads of departments in the centre in this regard.

7-    Determine the scientific disciplines required to provide opportunities for postgraduate studies according to priorities and entitlements determined by the Council.
