Monitoring runoff events and rain in the western region of Iraq

To complete the monitoring of rain and runoff events in the western region and for the third consecutive season, the staffs of the terminal station in Haditha, affiliated to the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar, continues monitoring and measurement work in the valleys of the region.
Engineer Juma Mohammed Ahmed, terminal station manager in Haditha, said that runoff events were monitored in the valleys of Hajlan and Zaghdan in the monitoring stations of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, while it is hoped that the floods of Horan will reach the measurement station in the coming hours. He also said that runoff were recorded with a discharge of 13.3 cubic meters / second in Zaghdan valley at the measurement station near the Ramadi - Haditha road, while in Hajlan valley, floods were recorded with a discharge of 10 cubic meters / second, and the measurement will continue Until the floods are interrupted, it is hoped to issue a bulletin detailing the amounts of rain and runoff discharges, in addition to the volume and quantities of water received.
It is noteworthy that the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar, in implementation of the university's strategic plan, to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030, has an ambitious program to monitor climate change through stations distributed over a number of valleys in the western region.
