Panel discussion entitled (Public morals to be observed in light of electronic globalization)

Coinciding with the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week called for by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre, held an awareness workshop entitled: (Public morals to be observed in light of electronic globalization), which was lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Yaseen Neda, and teacher Dr. Haneen Shartouh Sharqi, on Thursday, 5-12-2024, at the main hall of the centre.
The workshop focused on the dangers of electronic globalization in obliterating identity through the spread of contents far from the ethics of our Eastern Islamic societies, and highlighting the effects of Internet uses on individual and cultural identity, as openness to multiple cultures and exposure of our children to wide content may lead to the decline of traditional cultural identity with digital globalization, and digital globalization can lose some societal customs and traditions due to the influence of individuals on other cultures that may contradict in their values and principles with the assets and customs established by society and have become An integral part of our identity, as social media has the ability to shape the world for better or worse, so critical thinking and digital literacy must be promoted, and awareness of the etiquette of dealing with this social media to be beneficial not harmful, useful and not a waste of time.
The workshop came out with several recommendations that there is etiquette for using means of communication, foremost of which is the need to preserve values and morals, improve the language of discourse, adhere to honesty and honesty, and stay away from obscene words, insults, curses, defamation of others and other behaviours that are not in line with our values and norms.
