Horan valley records large floods that Exceeded expectations

As we pointed out in a previous bulletin, the floods of Horan valley reached the measurement station of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar after a rainy day in the upper valley areas. Engineer Jumaa Mohammed Ahmed, manager of the terminal station of the centre in the city of Haditha, said that the station staff since the morning hours has been monitoring and recording the discharge measurement of this flood wave at the measurement station on the Horan Bridge near the road linking Ramadi and Haditha, he also said that a discharge of more than 250 cubic meters per second was recorded at about ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, 2-11-2024,  This promises good water revenues from this valley to the Euphrates River for the third consecutive season.

In Hajlan valley within the city of Haditha, a discharge of 1.25 cubic meters per second was recorded. In Zaghdan valley, a discharge of 1.5 cubic meters per second was recorded at the metering station near the Ramadi-Haditha road, which indicates the receding wave against Horan valley, which began to reach from the upper valley areas to the measurement station.

He also pointed out that the station's staff will remain mobilized to conduct continuous measurements until the end of the flood wave for the purpose of strengthening the databases of water incomes of these valleys in support of researchers and graduate students in the field of climate change monitoring and water resources management.

These efforts come within the directions of the University of Anbar to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030, which the university has set as part of its strategic plan to enhance its role in community service and develop the university's scientific research directions.
