Water imports statistics as a result of Runoff on 3-4 November 2024


The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar announced statistics on the volume of water revenues as a result of floods in some valleys of the western region on November 3 and 4, 2024.

According to measurements conducted by researchers at the centre, the volume of flood water in Horan valley at the centre’s measurement station near the main road linking Haditha and Ramadi reached (22.7 million cubic meters), with the continued flow of runoff events from the top of the valley for four continuous days.

As for Zagdan valley, the volume of flood water (558 thousand cubic meters), lasted only one day, and in Hajlan valley inside the city of Haditha, the volume of flood water (8.7 million cubic meters) in two days.

The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre – University of Anbar continues for the third consecutive year to monitor, measure and record floodwaters in a number of valleys of the western region through several stations installed for this purpose as part of the university's plan to monitor and control climate change and its effects on various sectors, including water resources, in implementation of its strategic plan to achieve sustainable development goals and Vision 2030.
